GHOSALA

On 17.7.2020, Kanchi Sri Mahaperiyava Ghosala started functioning in the temple and currently it has 15 cows. Injured cattle and cows meant for slaughter are identified and brought here and taken care by us. Milk from the cows is used for pooja and Excess milk is given to the poor children. At present we have 8 cows with their 3 calves (born in our ghosala) and 4 oxen taken care by two employees.

Gopuja means worship of a cow (Gomatha) along with her calf. Gopuja removes hardships of the people and blesses them with peace and happiness. It also enables a person to achieve control over his senses. Gopuja is equivalent to a pradakshinam around the earth, recitation of Vedas and worship of Lord Vishnu.

Godanam means donating a cow (Gomatha) along with her calf. Godanam liberates the donor and his forefathers from the sins committed knowingly or unknowingly in their lives. Godanam is performed when a child is born in the family, during marriage, when a person passes away or in any other auspicious occasion. It bestows heavenly comforts on the donor. Departed souls will be relieved from the hells and from a treacherous river “Viraja” by doing Godanam. The devathas in the cow will take care of the soul. It is equal to the benefits obtained by performing Rajasuya Yaga and donating unlimited amount of gold.
